Building Blocks & Bridging the Gap

Media literacy gaps leave youth vulnerable to misinformation, limiting their capacity to engage critically with civic and cultural narratives.

Empower Media Exchange gives children the tools to safely understand and create media. Through fun, age-appropriate activities, they learn to spot information, express themselves through writing and storytelling, and build healthy digital habits with their families…the building blocks for lifelong critical thinking and confidence in a media-filled world.

We offer workshops, one-on-one training, summer camps and media literacy courses, partnering with schools and families to create confident early communicators.

Intro to Media

In this fun, hands-on class, kids learn how to tell truth from fiction, ask great questions and build confidence on camera through games and guided activities.


Summer Camp

In this week-long camp, kids explore the exciting world of media by learning the basics of print, video and digital production, discovering how media is made.


Media Smart

In this fun, family-friendly series, kids learn to stay safe and smart online, exploring kindness in digital spaces and simple ways to spot bias or protect their privacy.


Creative Lab

In this playful and supportive workshop, kids use writing and storytelling to explore who they are and how they feel while celebrating their unique voices.

Inspiring the Next Generation of Creators

Media literacy gaps leave can leave teens vulnerable to misinformation and unprepared for the communication demands of school, work and civic life.

Empower Media Exchange equips older youth with the foundational skills needed for success in today’s media-driven world. Through early exposure to media production and analysis, students learn to fact-check information, communicate clearly and express their identities through storytelling.

Our workshops, summer camps and one-on-one training programs provide hands-on experience that supports career readiness and academic growth. In partnership with schools and families, we help teens become confident, capable and media-savvy communicators.

In this interactive, skills-based class, teens learn how to separate fact from fiction, ask thoughtful questions and build confidence in front of the camera.


Summer “StoryLab” Camps

In this week-long camp, teens dive into the work of storytelling through hands-on training in production, and build projects that reflect their voice and vision.


Media Smart Series

This workshop series helps teens and their families navigate today’s complex digital world. Each session builds stronger media habits with opportunities for conversation.


Confident Kids

This communication workshop empowers teens to explore identity, belonging and emotional wellness in a supportive space, building confidence through creative self-expression.

Become a Youth Journalist with EMX

Are you a young storyteller with something to say? Empower Media Exchange invites youth ages 12 to 18 to join Front Range Focus’s “The Scoop,” a bold new platform where young voices lead the way.

As a youth journalist, you’ll learn how to pitch story ideas, conduct interviews, fact-check your work and publish real articles that reflect your community, culture and passions. Whether you’re passionate about social justice, arts and entertainment, mental health or local news, you’ll gain hands-on experience in writing, reporting and multimedia storytelling.

You’ll be mentored by media professionals, earn skill badges for your portfolio and have the chance to see your work in print and online. Most importantly, you’ll help shape the stories that matter to your generation.
